October is a brilliant time for Martial Arts clubs to come together, have some fun and make a difference.
Across the country, October is a popular month for fundraising and awareness campaigns, making it the perfect opportunity to bring your students, instructors, families and wider community together for a cause that matters to you.
Whether you’re supporting an incredible charity, raising money for your own club, or simply looking for a new way to unite your members, why notΒ wear it pink this October?
And there’s one simple addition that can get the whole dojo involved… theΒ Blitz Pink Belt.
Turn Your Dojo Pink
For one class, one week or even the whole month, encourage your students and instructors to swap their usual belt for a Pink Belt. It creates an instantly recognisable theme for your event and gives everyone the opportunity to get involved, regardless of their grade.
Students could make a donation to take part, clubs could donate proceeds from selected sessions or you could combine your Pink Belt day with a bigger fundraising challenge. Don’t forget to get a club photo at the end. A dojo full of Martial Artists wearing pink belts is certainly going to stand out!
Fundraising Ideas for Martial Arts Clubs
Need some inspiration? Here are a few ways you could turn your October training into a fundraising event.
π₯ Host a Punchathon
How many punches can your club complete?
Set a big target, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 or even more, and get everyone involved. Students can collect sponsorships before the event and work together to reach the club’s total.
For larger clubs, split everyone into teams or age groups and see who can complete the most.
𦡠Kickathon
Prefer kicks to punches?
Set a club target and count every kick! Students could complete 100 kicks each, compete in teams or see how many controlled kicks they can perform within a set time. Taekwondo and Kickboxing clubs in particular could have plenty of fun with this one.
π₯ 100 Kata Challenge
Put your Karate students to the test with a sponsored kata challenge.
Choose a realistic target for your members and challenge them to complete as many katas as possible during a special fundraising session. Younger students could complete a shorter challenge while, senior grades take on something more demanding.
π Pink Belt Training Night
Sometimes keeping things simple works best. Ask everyone attending a particular class to wear a Pink Belt and make a small donation to participate. Add pink decorations, take plenty of photos and turn an ordinary training night into something memorable.
You could even award a prize for the best pink outfit worn alongside the club uniform.
π Sponsored Martial Arts Circuit
Create different stations around the dojo with challenges such as punches, kicks, pad work, skipping, press ups, squats and techniques. Students collect sponsorships for completing the entire circuit or completing as many rounds as they can. It’s energetic, easy to adapt for different ages and a great way to involve the whole club.
π¨βπ©βπ§ Bring a Friend or Family Member
Open your doors for a special fundraising class where students can invite a friend, parent or family member to train with them. Instead of charging your usual fee, ask for a donation to your chosen cause. As an added bonus, you might introduce some future Martial Artists to your club!
π₯ Instructor Challenge
It’s time for the students to set the challenge.
Reach different fundraising milestones and your instructor has to complete a challenge, perhaps 100 burpees, 500 punches, a marathon pad session or even teaching an entire class wearing pink. The bigger the fundraising total, the bigger the challenge!
π° Pink Bake Sale
Not every fundraiser needs to happen on the mats.
Ask students and parents to bring along pink themed cakes, biscuits and treats to sell before or after training. Combine it with your Pink Belt session and turn it into a club social event.
Fundraise for a Cause or Your Club
Your October event doesn’t necessarily have to support one particular charity. Your club could choose a cause that’s close to the hearts of its members, support a local community organisation or raise money towards something the club needs.
Maybe you’re saving for new training equipment, helping competitors with tournament costs, funding improvements to your dojo or trying to make classes more accessible within your community. Whatever you choose, give your members a clear goal and show them what their fundraising will help achieve.
Make It a Club Event
The best fundraising events aren’t just about hitting a financial target. They’re an opportunity to bring people together. Get everyone involved from your newest white belts to your senior black belts, instructors, parents and supporters. Create a fundraising target for the club, share updates throughout October and celebrate milestones as you reach them. You could even create a leaderboard between classes or teams to add some friendly competition.
And, of course, take plenty of photos and videos. Share your Pink Belt training sessions and fundraising challenges on social media and encourage students and parents to share them too. It’s a great way to spread awareness of your chosen cause while showcasing the community behind your club.
